Ponca City Library offers programs for all ages

Tax preparation begins Feb. 1 in the library business section and will go until April 15. Please call the library at (580) 767-0345 to check the hours of operation. Please be sure to have all tax information with you such as photo IDs, Social Security cards for each dependent you are claiming, and previous tax information. Please remember we do not allow food or drinks in the library.

Story time and Craft at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.  Recommended for ages 0 – 6. Children will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the children’s librarian followed by a unique craft. Origami 101 at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in the library program room. This is a come-and-go event for the entire family to enjoy. All materials will be provided at this free event.

The Oklahoma City Zoo will be stopping by on Saturday, Feb. 4, for the “Mitten!” Discover the cool ways animals overcome the cold with stylish winter coats, built-in blubber, and even antifreeze. Then journey into a humorous tale of several animals squeezing into a mitten to stay warm. This is a free family event and there will be a few animal friends to visit. The program will start at 1 p.m., so be sure to get here early!

Computers 101 and Internet Computer Center Training. starting at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6. This is a pre-registered class in the Library Computer Center with only 10 patron spaces available. During this class, patrons can learn the basics of using a computer and navigating the internet. Please call the library at (580) 767-0345 and pre-register in the computer center.

Story time and Craft at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, recommended for ages 0 – 6. Children will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the children’s librarian, followed by a unique craft.

Have you had your Coffee Break? Join the Ponca City Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9,  in the Library Program Room for a fun program about making coffee or just enjoy a cup of coffee on us! This is a free event. Please pre-register at the reference desk or call the library at (580) 767-0345.

Make a Valentine! Come create a homemade valentine at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, for someone special in your life. The library will provide all the supplies. This program is geared towards 2nd – 6th grade students, but is open to all ages. Younger children will need parental guidance. There will be light refreshments and no pre-registration is required.

Introduction to Social Media starts at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the Library Computer Center. This is a pre-registered class with only 10 patron positions available. Please pre-register at the Ponca City Library Computer Center or call the library at (580) 767-0345. This class will help introduce various social media sites and create a Facebook page.
Sewing Circle at 2 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Library Program Room. Come learn basic sewing using a sewing machine. Feel free to bring your own materials. We will provide the sewing machine and the expert help. Please pre-register at the reference desk or call the library at (580) 767-0345. Additional social sewing is welcome during this time.

Brick Builders meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Are you looking for something to do with the entire family on Saturday? Kids can be creative and use their imagination to create something with toy blocks. Parents can join the fun too! This will take place in the Ponca City Library program room.

Intro to Microsoft Word at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in the Library Computer Center. This is a pre-registered class with only 10 patron spaces available. Please pre-register at the Ponca City Library Computer Center or you can call the library at (580) 767-0345. This class will teach the basic fundamentals of Microsoft Word by opening a word document, creating bullet lists, inserting clip art, and saving a document.

Adult Book Club at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. Book Lovers! Join other readers for a discussion about the book The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum by Kristen Weiss at the Ponca City Library Board Room. To register, sign up at the reference desk or call the reference desk at (580) 767-0345. There are a limited number of books available that can be picked up at the reference desk.

Murder Mystery “Lights, Camera, Action!” 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. Join the Ponca City Library for a fun mystery event where a room full of lies and scandals are intricately woven to point patrons to find a secret killer! It will be up to patrons to work together to uncover the clues while the culprit will remain concealed. The program is recommended for ages 16 – 22. Please pre-register at the reference desk or call the library at (580) 767-0345. This program will start at 5 p.m. in the library program room.
