Ponca City Homicide Suspect Arrested After Stand-Off With Police

On Monday, July 31, at 3:32 am, the Ponca City 911 Center received a call of a structure fire in the 900 block of E. Maple Avenue. Ponca City Fire Units and Ponca City Police Units responded. At 3:42 am, the Fire Department reported finding a person deceased in the residence. Foul play was suspected. Ponca City Police Detectives were dispatched to the residence, where they discovered 43-year-old Tonner Gene Warrior with gunshot wounds.

The Oklahoma State Fire Marshall and the State Medical Examiner were called and are assisting in the investigation. The Kay County Sheriff’s Office and The Bureau of Indian Affairs also assisted.

At around 3:00 pm Tuesday, following a 1-hour standoff, 30-year-old Jaylin Anthony Kimble was arrested on probable cause for Kidnapping and Rape in an unrelated report to police on Saturday.

The detective’s investigation revealed Kimble as a suspect in this case, and a charge of Murder in the first degree is expected to be added to his charges.
