The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #6 for the 2022-2023 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Brianna Lee.
Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Brianna is a Wildcat who is involved in many school activities including cross country and track, but she also participates in power lifting outside of school. She also maintains excellent grades. The only absences Brianna has had this year are for school activities, so school is definitely a priority for her! It is obvious that it is a goal for Brianna to continually improve in all things she is involved in.”
“Brianna’s teachers say she is a model student, takes care of business in class and is always well-prepared. What sets Brianna apart is her wonderful attitude and caring heart. She is a great teammate and is always looking out for her peers to provide them support and encouragement. Brianna also has three younger siblings who range in age from 1-9 years old. They think the sun rises and sets with Brianna and their eyes light up when she enters the room. Many times siblings think little brothers and sisters are a pain, but Brianna takes the time to play with them, read to them, and serves as an excellent role model for them. She also takes the time to write letters and sends them through the mail to her grandmother. Doing so is such a wonderful gesture because many grandparents do not have technology at their fingertips to send texts and emails. It takes a caring heart to go the extra mile to honor those who aren’t as tech savvy as some by giving them the extra attention they deserve.”
“Brianna, I am super impressed with your work ethic, desire to be the best version of yourself and your positive attitude. However, what impresses me the most is how caring you are to not only your classmates, but to your family. Family is everything! They are the ones who have your back when you need support, they are the ones who cheer you on as you are celebrating life’s successes, and they are the ones who love you unconditionally. I am so glad you are taking the time to write letters to your grandmother. My grandmother used to send me letters at least once a week, but I cannot say I wrote back that often. I did call her every Sunday, though. You will cherish the time you spent communicating with her when you get older.”
“You told me you wanted to go to East Central University in Ada upon graduation because they have a power lifting team. Your dream is to become a strength and conditioning coach. It’s great when Wildcats chase a dream that could give back to students and being any kind of coach definitely impacts students. I know your coaches have made a big impact on your life and Brianna, you have made an impact on their lives as well. Coach Landes said you have the most contagious smile and attitude, and you strive to improve with everything you to. She also said she will be incredibly sad when you graduate. You are a great student and athlete, a wonderful family member, and an amazing Ponca City Wildcat!”
“Your school family members are incredibly proud of you and I know your own family is proud of you, too. Thanks for having high standards and for representing PCPS and your family with pride!”
