Ponca City Changes Christmas Traditions

Ponca City Now - November 12, 2013 8:59 am

Ponca City is replacing the decorative Christams tree at City Hall and the tree at Grand and Third.

The city has purchased an artificial tree that will be displayed in front of City Hall.

City manager, Craig Stephenson said this tree will be a statement piece downtown.

“ It will be 36 feet tall with like a five foot tree topper," Stephenson said. "It will be prelit with about 24,000 mini LED lights, and we are going to put it on the fountain on the plaza here and create a focal point here.”

They have already began setting up this tree and plan on lighting it sometime during Thanksgiving week.

This tree is beneficial in many ways.

There won’t be a conflict of the lighting of the City Hall tree and Festival Of Angels anymore.

Also, the tree at Grand and Thrid will not bother traffic or downtown retailers.
