TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Tulsa police say a man suspected of killing a 73-year-old woman on the city’s south side has killed himself.

Sgt. Dave Walker says the man used a handgun believed to have been stolen from the victim to shoot himself in the head Saturday when approached by officers in an apartment complex parking lot.

The names of the man and the victim were not released.

Walker says a friend of the woman found her dead about 7:45 p.m. Friday. He says the woman had trauma to the head and a stab wound and that handguns, jewelry and her car were missing.

Walker says the car was found Friday night and officers saw the suspect walking to it about 1 a.m. Saturday. He says the man shot himself when confronted by the officers.
