A McAlester police officer has life-threatening injuries after a collision near 141st Street and Highway 75 Friday night, according to authorities.

The driver of the truck that collided with the officer’s car has been arrested by Glenpool Police Department, authorities said.

Authorities said the driver was arrested “on the complaint of driving without a valid license.”

The officer was in a funeral procession for the police captain with the McAlester Police Department when the collision happened.

A truck headed north on Highway 75 failed to stop for the procession and took evasive action to avoid a collision with stopped traffic, authorities said.

During the evasive action, the truck driver crossed the center median, went through a guard rail, and hit the officer’s car head-on, authorities said.

The officer is being treated at a local hospital for life-threatening injuries. The truck driver and passenger of the truck refused medical treatment.

Authorities said an investigation is ongoing and southbound 75 remains closed to traffic just north of the 151st St. bridge.
