Po-Hi Students Compete at Power Lifting Championships

Brianna Lee and Ryanna Sylastine, both juniors at Ponca City High School, recently attended the 38th annual NASA (Natural Athletic Strength Association) high school nationals’ powerlifting championships. This is the oldest high school national powerlifting competition in the country.
Brianna competed in the 198-pound class. Her best lift in the squat was 245 pounds, in the bench press 138 pounds and finished the day with a 253-pound deadlift.
Ryanna competed in the 181-pound class. Her best squat was 265 pounds, a 153-pound bench press and she finished the day with a 292-pound deadlift.
With these lifts, both girls placed first in their division and were named High School National champions.
These girls will be competing again at the end of June. Their coach is coach Jason Freeman.
