Pioneer Technology Center becomes certified weld testing lab

Ponca City Now - January 16, 2020 1:50 pm

Pioneer Technology Center has become an Oklahoma Department of Labor  Certified Weld Testing Lab.

According to the ODOL website, the tech center is one of more than 50 test sites in Oklahoma.

All testing will take place in the PTC Welding Technology Program shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 4 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays by appointment. There will be 10 testing slots available each day.

Ian Freeman, Welding Technology Program instructor, trained through a certified Weld Inspector Program, then took the inspector exam in the summer of 2019.

“It’s been my goal to make PTC a weld testing lab so that we can offer a much-needed service to the community and students,” said Freeman.  “I’m always looking to take another step towards training, education and certification testing.”

PTC can offer testing for any company or contractor who has employees in need of welding certification through the ODOL. Testers need to be prepared to have two forms of government-issued IDs in order to sign-up for the certification test.
