Personal Injury Collision in Payne County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 4:19 p.m. Friday at Linwood and Grandstaff, about 1 mile north of the Cushing city limits in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2009 Yamaha R1 driven by Robert Shea Watson, 24, of Cushing, OK. Watson was by AirEvac to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition with head, trunk internal, and trunk external injuries.

The second vehicle involved was a 2006 Chevrolet pickup driven by James Calvin Beaver, 85, of Cushing, OK. Beaver was not injured.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Watson’s vehicle was southbound on Linwood, Beaver’s vehicle was northbound on Linwood. Beaver’s vehicle turned left onto Grandstaff and was struck on the passenger side by Watson’s vehicle. Seatbelts were equipped and in use in Beaver’s vehicle. The condition of Watson is under investigation and the cause of the collision is still pending.
