Personal Injury Collision in Payne County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 12:54 p.m. Saturday at State Highway 33 and Eucee Valley Road, about 2.4 miles east of Cushing, OK in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 1990 Honda Civic driven by Ryan Merchberger (SIC), 32, of Drumright, OK. Merchberger was transported by AirEvac to St. Francis in Tulsa, OK, where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Merchberger’s vehicle was travelling westbound on State Highway 33. The vehicle departed the roadway left, overcorrected and departed to the right. The vehicle struck a ditch, then rolled approximately 2 times, landing on its top. Merchberger was pinned for approximately 20 minutes, being freed by Cushing Fire and Rescue using the jaws of life. The report notes that a seat belt was equipped and in use. The cause of the collision and the condition of the driver are listed as still being under investigation.
