The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 5:20 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 35 northbound at mile marker 234, about 12 miles north of Blackwell, OK in Kay County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2016 Freightliner Semi-Truck driven by Rodney MacLin (SIC), 25, of Millington, TN. He was transported by Blackwell EMS to Blackwell Regional Hospital in Blackwell, OK. He was then transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK by Blackwell EMS, where he was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk external, and trunk internal injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that MacLin’s vehicle departed roadway to the left for approximately 270 feet before impacting the cable barrier. The vehicle then entered back into the roadway, with the trailer going into a broad slide, and rolled over one quarter of a time, coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle and blocking both lanes of northbound I35. Seatbelts were equipped and in use. The report notes rainy conditions and a wet roadway. The cause of the collision is attributed to inattentive driving.
