PCUA LETTERS ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING WATER SERVICE LINES

Ponca City Now - November 19, 2024 5:51 am

Over the next couple of weeks, PCUA (Ponca City Utility Authority) customers will receive a letter from the PCUA regarding their water service line.
The Environmental Protection Agency has mandated that PCUA determine whether lead or galvanized pipe was used to construct customers’ water service lines.
The customer water service line runs from the water meter to the house. This portion of the service line is owned by, and the responsibility of the home or business owner, and records of work done to this line have not been kept by the PCUA until very recently. If any resident or business owner knows that their water service line has been replaced since 1986, PCUA is asking for any information to that effect by following the instructions in the letter.
Without the customer information, PCUA will need to investigate the customer water service line on the customer’s property, potentially disrupting service and/or digging small holes in the customers’ yards to determine the material used. Therefore, customer response is essential for completing this project successfully and in the most cost-effective manner.
