Ponca City High School-
The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #6 for the 2021-2022 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Kaden Swords.
Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Kaden is a perfect example of a well-rounded student. He keeps himself very busy with serving as the historian of the Student Council, singing with the Wildcat Choir and especially busy acting in musicals with the Evans Performing Academy and the Ponca Playhouse. To participate in all of the things at the level of excellence exhibited by Kaden, it is obvious he has an incredible work ethic. Not only does he strive for continual improvement by honing his own craft, but he is willing to help anyone meet their own goals, and he jumps in to help with any task, which shows true leadership! Kaden’s teachers at Po-Hi say he is a pleasure to have in class and he is ALWAYS ready to engage people and discuss topics with deep interest and enthusiasm. Not only is he an extremely talented singer, actor and leader, he excels in his studies at Po-Hi and he also is concurrently enrolled at NOC and it’s no surprise he deeply applies himself and is earning top grades. Kaden is a perfect choice for Wildcat of the Week because he undoubtedly lives and applies the Wildcat Way in all aspects of his life!”
“Kaden, I first got to know you at Wildcat Pep Assemblies because as a Po-Hi STuCO member, you take charge of leading many of the assemblies. You are calm, well-spoken, and comfortable speaking to and leading your peers, which can be quite intimidating for students and for many adults as well. I know your performances with musical productions and choir have helped you develop that confidence and gift. It’s obvious when you are speaking publicly you are very confident, but you exude this unique style that lets us all know you are kind, humble and caring of everyone,” said Arrott. “I know you are planning on attending OSU and would like to focus on a career in optometry. We all are hopeful you will return to Ponca City to continue to make an impact on your community. I also know our community would love to have you return to your passion, the Evans Performance Academy and Ponca Playhouse. We all are so prideful when we see your name and pictures with top billing in the many performances you participate in. Your peers, teachers, school, family and community are so proud of you. We are all so happy you are a Ponca City Wildcat and that you represent with pure class! Your constant smile is contagious, and you make our school a happier and better place. Great things are in your future; thanks for being our very own Wildcat Star!”
The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored by Heather Cannon Honda. The award is for a deserving high school student who follows the characteristics of the Wildcat Way which are Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork. These characteristics may be exhibited in any setting and is open to all Ponca City High School students.
Several Ponca City patrons were involved in making the “Wildcat of the Week” a reality. These partners include Tina Christian, Senator Bill Coleman – TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon – Heather Cannon Honda, Ground Round, and Tyndall Dentistry.
Each week a new “Wildcat of the Week” will be selected from the nominations of TEAM Radio listeners and viewers. Winners receive a free meal from Ground Round and a T-shirt from Boss Custom Tees. PCPS will make the presentation weekly at Po-Hi.
