PONCA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ENROLLMENT DATES AND INFORMATION

MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

We are so excited for registration for the 2020-2021 school year to begin. It is going to be wonderful to see our returning students and to meet our new students in August. Our teachers and staff cannot wait to interact with students and families after a long five months of school closure and summer break!

The staff of PCPS are working continually throughout the summer to develop specific plans for key components of re-entry to ensure the safety of our students and staff, while maintaining the integrity of teaching and learning.  As you can imagine, our typical practices will change during a global pandemic. This information will be presented to our families as re-entry plans are confirmed through short, informational videos to explain the multiple layers of precautions we will implement to focus on the safety of our students, families, and community. Stay connected to the Ponca City Public Schools Facebook Page and our district website, www.pcps.us, for continual updates. In the meantime if you have specific questions or concerns, please call the Central Administration Office at 580-767-8000.

ONLINE ENROLLMENT

The Ponca City Public School District announces online registration for the 2020-2021 school year will open July 1, 2020. All returning students who will attend Ponca City Public Schools must be registered online annually through the PowerSchool Parent Portal to update district and state required information. The Parent Portal may be accessed through the PowerSchool link on the district website, www.pcps.us. Registration must be completed on an iPad or a computer using a browser. Registration cannot be completed through the PowerSchool Phone App.   Parents are reminded to complete the registration forms for each student who will be attending PCPS in the Parent Portal. Registrations completed prior to July 1, 2020 will not be valid for the 2020-2021 school year.

ELEMENTARY IN-DISTICT TRANSFER REQUESTS submitted before the May 1 deadline will not be considered for students who have not registered by July 29. After May 1, transfers will not be considered. Parents are strongly encouraged to register their students during the summer registration window to ensure proper placement. If registration is not completed by July 29, school and class availability may be limited.

By taking a few steps now, parents can expedite the summer registration process: log on to the Parent Portal and make certain usernames and passwords work; if additional immunizations are required, have those done now and provide an updated immunization record during the registration window; and provide the Registration Center updated court documents if custody changes have occurred.

CAT CARE: The district will also be registering students for their after-school care program entitled “Cat Care” which will begin on the first day of classes.

Attention: New Option for Parent/Guardians of Returning PCPS Students
This summer parents/guardians of returning students to PCPS have the option to complete their registration completely online. Required documents such as updated shot records and address verification can be emailed to the following address [email protected]

All attachments must include the first and last name of the student being registered, school they attend, and what requirement document is being attached:
Example: Name: Betty Boop, School: Liberty Elementary, Document: Shot Record and Proof of Residence

This option will only be available to parents through July 16, 2020. After this date required documents must be brought to the Registration Center.

NOTE: Documents Can be Sent NOW but Online Registration Opens July 1, 2020.

PCPS REGISTRATION CENTER

580-718-3834

OPEN JULY 6-29, 2020

Mondays & Wednesdays 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Closed on Fridays)

If parents experience difficulty with their login name or password, assistance is available at the Registration Center. Passwords will not be reset over the phone. The Registration Center will open for personalized assistance on July 6, 2020.

The Registration Center will have computers available during the summer registration window for parent/guardians who do not have access to a computer or need assistance.

Parent/guardians who qualify for SNAP or TANF benefits will need their case number to complete the online free/reduced lunch application.

The Registration Center, located at 111 W. Grand Avenue, will re-open July 6-29, 2020 to receive required documents and to assist with the registration process. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak and, state and CDC guidelines, the Registration Center will only allow 50 parents/guardians into the facility to register students at a time. Also, to ensure the safety of all families, only one person (parent/guardian) will be allowed to register students. We will not allow families to enter the Registration Center as in past years.

In order to cut down on wait time and lines outside the Registration Center the PCPS will be implementing scheduled days for each school site.

The regular entrance on the South side (Grand Ave.) of the building will not be open as in past years. Parents/guardians please park in the back of the building (on the North side) and enter through the back doorway. Patrons will be welcomed and directed by a door greeter.

The Registration Center will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. to accommodate working parents.   The Registration Center will be closed Fridays. Parents of returning students who will attend West Middle School, East Middle School and Ponca City High School can register their children completely online. Course selection in the spring of 2020 does not register your student for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents/guardians must complete the registration process online.

Seventh grade students missing the Tdap booster must provide an updated immunization record to the Registration Center to complete registration, unless documentation was provided to the site prior to the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Secondary students will not be permitted to pick up schedules until the registration process is complete.

Students in grades K-5 may be registered online; however, proof of residence, and in some cases, immunization records must be provided to the Registration Center to complete the registration process.

Parents of students new to the district, or students who did not complete the 2019-2020 school year, will need to visit the Registration Center to register their student.

Information about the online registration process is posted on the district website, www.pcps.us. For more information, please contact the Registration Center at (580) 718-3834.

We are excited to see our students again and to meet our future Wildcats!
