PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a passenger in a pickup truck being chased by police in Ponca City was wounded when the truck’s driver and an officer exchanged gunfire.

The OSBI says in a news release that police in Ponca City were pursuing the truck about 7 p.m. Sunday when the driver crashed the vehicle, then got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the officer, who returned fire.

Agent Steve Tanner said Tuesday that a man inside the truck was struck in the head by gunfire and was treated and released at a hospital. Tanner said a woman also in the truck was not injured while the driver was arrested.

Tanner said it hasn’t been determined who fired the shot that struck the man.
