Party to celebrate Ponca City’s 125th birthday on Sept. 7

Ponca City Main Street is throwing a party on Friday, Sept. 7, in honor of Ponca City’s 125th birthday!  Join us downtown from 5 to 11 p.m. as we celebrate our community.

The event will be held at the Veterans Plaza, at Fourth Street and Grand Avenue.  All ages welcome!

Schedule:

5 p.m.  – Oklahoma! music on speakers.

5:30 – Hot dogs are ready to serve, along with water and sodas.

6 p.m. – Welcome by Mayor Homer Nicholson.

6:10 – Presentation of Colors.

6:15 – National Anthem.

6:20 – Oklahoma!

6:30 – 6:45  Native American drummers, singers and dancers.

6:50 – Close, Mayor Nicholson.

7 p.m. – Live music, Band #9.

8:35 (or dusk) – Oklahoma! the Musical

This is a free, non-ticketed event and all ages are welcome. There will be hot dogs, water, pop, cupcakes and popcorn available.

The event is hosted by Ponca City Main Street. Additional event sponsors are:

Band #9 is Steve Young on lead guitar/ vocals, Larry Newsom on lead guitar/vocals, Gary Wilson on bass guitar/vocals, John Simpson on drums/vocals, and Bill Anthony, sound engineer.  They’ll be treating us to classic rock in honor of Ponca City’s 125th birthday, starting at 7 p.m.
