OSU’s Evans named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma State freshman Jawun Evans has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for his performances in two games last week.

The conference announced the award Monday after Evans set an OSU freshman record with 42 points in a 74-72 loss to Oklahoma. He followed that by scoring 12 points, grabbing eight rebounds and handing out seven assists in a 74-69 loss to Texas.

This is the second Newcomer of the Week award this season for Evans.

Texas’ Isaiah is the conference Player of the Week after averaging 23 points in wins over Iowa State and OSU.
