STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis has formally welcomed the incoming freshman class that is on pace to be the second largest in school history.

Hargis and other campus leaders gathered with the incoming freshmen during new student convocation Friday at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Fall semester classes are to begin Monday.

OSU says freshman enrollment is continuing – but that 4,070 have already enrolled. The largest OSU freshman class was in 2012 with 4,289 students. Last year’s enrollment was 3,872.

Total enrollment for the combined OSU-Stillwater and OSU-Tulsa campuses currently stands at more than 25,000 and campus officials expect it to approach last year’s combined enrollment of nearly 26,000 students.
