OSBI investigating Tishomingo shooting

Ponca City Now - April 18, 2018 12:43 pm

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Tishomingo Police Chief requested OSBI investigative assistance in an officer-involved shooting in the 1400 block of N. Elks Road, Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Tishomingo officers and Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a family violence call at that location. A male subject rammed his vehicle into a Tishomingo patrol car and continued pushing the patrol car backwards. Two Tishomingo officers and one Sheriff’s deputy fired at the subject.

The subject was transported to the Tishomingo Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man’s body was transported to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, where he will be identified and an autopsy will be conducted.

Once the OSBI has completed its investigation, a report will be forwarded to the Johnston County District Attorney for a prosecutorial decision.

The Sheriff’s deputy was not injured; however, the two Tishomingo officers had minor injuries and were treated and released. All three were placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The OSBI will not release the names of the officers and deputy unless criminal charges are filed.
