An Osage County boy, 2, died three days after he was found face-down in a pond on his family’s property in Skiatook.

The boy, who has not been identified because of his age, was found about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The family and investigators determined he left the family home and walked to the pond and into the water.

After search efforts lasting about 20 minutes, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a neighbor found the boy and recovered him from the pond, immediately beginning lifesaving efforts.

Skiatook Fire/EMS transported the child to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. He was revived after three to four hours of lifesaving efforts and was admitted for further treatment.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office said the boy died at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
