Oklahoma women’s team to play in Spain during summer

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team will play three exhibition games this summer in Spain.

OU announced Wednesday that the team will leave Aug. 10 for a nine-day trip.

OU will play Olimpico 64 in Madrid on Aug. 12, Combinado Valenciano in Valencia on Aug. 15 and the Barcelona Region All-Stars in Barcelona on Aug. 17.

The team will also sightsee with stops at the office palace of the King of Spain in Madrid, Barcelona's Olympic Stadium and the Gothic Quarter in Valencia.

The NCAA allows teams to travel outside the U.S. once every four years. OU previously traveled to France, Monaco and Switzerland in 2004; to Italy and Greece in 2008; and to Australia in 2012.

OU also is allowed 10 extra days of practice for the games.
