Oklahoma Woman Dies, Another Critical After Being Swept Into Ocean in Hawaii

An Oklahoma woman is dead and another is critical after being swept into the ocean on Monday.

According to an article by Hawaii News Now, two Oklahoma women were visitingOahu’s North Shore when waves were reportedly 6 to 8 feet Monday morning.

Hawaii News Now reported that Ocean Safety said a lifeguard was posting no swimming signs along the shoreline when he heard people yelling and saw swimmers in distress.

A 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and two women from Moore, Oklahoma were taken to the hospital.

One woman who was 72 years old died, and the other woman, 41, was hospitalized in serious condition.

According to a GoFunMe page set up for the family, Laura Rich and her mother Susie Jett were on vacation in Hawaii when they were swept out to sea.

The page said Laura is awake and responsive.
