The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board denied clemency for Kevin Underwood on Friday.

He was convicted of murdering 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin in 2006 in Purcell.

His execution date is set for Dec. 19.

Underwood’s legal counsel mentioned his childhood trauma and pointed to undiagnosed autism disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, social phobia, and other mental health impacts that Underwood experienced.

Attorney Brendan Van Winkle said he lost his battle with his mental health.

Officials with the Attorney General’s Office said Underwood targeted Bolin after preparing supplies and a plan to kidnap, rape, torture, and cannibalize her.

The State’s legal counsel said Underwood deserves the same amount of mercy he gave Bolin, which is none at all.

Underwood spoke on video from the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and apologized to the Bolin family and his family.
