WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Bragging rights are on the line in the final matchup between the in-state rivals before Oklahoma leaves the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference. Both teams are in a five-way tie for first place in the league, so the game could play a significant role in who plays in the conference championship game. Oklahoma was rolling until an upset loss at Kansas last week. Oklahoma State was 2-2 and struggling before winning four straight. Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel and Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon are in the Heisman Trophy conversation and could gain momentum with a win.
KEY MATCHUP
Gordon vs. Oklahoma defensive front. Gordon is the nation’s leader with 1,087 yards rushing. He has rushed for at least 100 yards five straight games and has 858 yards from scrimmage his past three contests. Oklahoma allows just 132 yards rushing per game.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Oklahoma: Gabriel. He’s been one of the nation’s most productive quarterbacks, but he had an off game against Kansas and will be looking to bounce back. He has accounted for 27 touchdowns this season — 19 passing and eight rushing.
Oklahoma State: QB Alan Bowman. The Michigan transfer has found his groove and is taking advantage of how defenses are focusing on Gordon. The Cowboys are 4-1 since he took over as the full-time starter.
