Oklahoma National Guard to Deploy 50 Members for Texas Border Security Mission

Oklahoma National Guard to deploy 50 members for Texas border security mission. (KTUL)

On Sunday approximately 50 Soldiers and Airmen from the Oklahoma National Guard will deploy to El Paso, Texas to assist the Texas National Guard with border security.

There will be a deployment ceremony for the Texas border mission on Sunday starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Norman Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Members will support Operation Lone Star where they will man security points to identify and alert local law enforcement of any illegal immigrant or drug trafficking activities.

The deployment is expected to last approximately 30 days with a follow-on deployment of an additional 50 Soldiers and Airmen sometime in 2024.
