Oklahoma more than doubles daily record for new virus cases

The Associated Press - November 8, 2020 7:52 am

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of newly reported coronavirus cases in Oklahoma has more than doubled the previous one-day record. Officials say a backlog of cases and possibly duplicate reporting are the reasons.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Saturday reported 4,741 new cases, bringing the total to 136,492 since the pandemic began. The previous one-day record of 2,101 new cases was recorded Thursday.

The health department said the number of cases is continuing to rise, but there is also a backlog of cases in Saturday’s report because of a transition from a manual to electronic reporting system.
