Oklahoma man now faces second murder charge in fatal crash
EL RENO, Okla. (AP) – An Oklahoma man with four previous driving under the influence of alcohol convictions now faces a second murder charge in what police say was a deadly alcohol-related collision on New Year’s Eve.
Canadian County prosecutors on Wednesday charged 30-year-old Craig Maker of Edmond with second-degree murder for the death of 18-year-old Nhu Huong of Des Moines, Washington. The crash on the Kilpatrick Turnpike also killed 37-year-old Amanda Carson of Yukon.
Maker was previously charged with Carson’s death. Huong was a passenger in Carson’s vehicle and died about two weeks later of injuries suffered in the collision.
Records show Maker remains jailed and an attorney listed for him didn’t immediately return a phone call for comment.
Online court records indicate Maker has pleaded guilty to DUI charges four times since 2011.
