Oklahoma man drowns after being swept away by floodwaters

KIOWA, Okla. (AP) — Officials say an Oklahoma man drowned after he was swept away from his stalled truck by floodwaters from severe storms that hit the state and other parts of the U.S. South.

Randall Hyatt was in his Chevy pickup near Kiowa, Oklahoma, on Saturday when he drove into deep floodwaters, causing his vehicle to become inoperable, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The 58-year-old Hyatt from Wardville, Oklahoma, was overrun by rushing water after exiting his truck. His body was recovered at 8:15 a.m. Saturday.
