An Oklahoma man was arrested in connection to a murder case in Nebraska that has been unsolved since 1969.
The U.S. Marshals Service arrested 77-year-old Joseph Ambroz of Ponca City on Monday at Copper Ridge Apartments, 1515 West Highland.
A warrant was issued for his arrest last week when a Saunders County, Nebraska grand jury indicted him for first-degree murder.
Prosecutors in the case have said he was responsible for the death of 17-year-old Mary Kay Heese.
According to reports, Heese was reported missing by her family on March 25, 1969.
Her body was discovered in a ditch south of Wahoo, Nebraska the following morning on March 26. Heese, who was a high school junior at the time, had been stabbed more than a dozen times. The case has been unsolved since 1969.
Her body was recently exhumed from the family plot at the Blair cemetery according to reports.
Ambroz was taken to the Kay County Detention Center and is expected in court this week for an extradition hearing to begin the process to transport him back to Nebraska.
Murder suspect 77-year-old Joseph Ambroz is believed to have recently moved to Ponca City.
