OHP recovers body of one Arkansas duck hunter at Kaw Lake

Ponca City Now - December 28, 2015 4:08 pm

Kay County Undersheriff Steve Kelley said at 4 p.m. Monday that the body of one man was recovered from Kaw Lake about mid-day today.

The man was one of two duck hunters from Arkansas who were reported missing on Sunday, he said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was contacted to conduct the investigation because it was a waterway investigation, Kelley said.

The investigation was suspended about midnight and resumed Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway patrol is continuing its search for the second man, Kelley said. Investigators also were waiting for the arrival of the state Medical Examiner.

A dog that accompanied the men was found Sunday night and returned to the owner, who is a family member of one of the men.

Kelley said weather conditions had "been a damper on the investigation from the get-go."
