Officer wounded, suspect killed in Broken Arrow shooting

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — A Broken Arrow police officer was wounded and the suspected gunman was killed in a shooting in northeastern Oklahoma.

Broken Arrow Police Officer Chris Walker says the shooting began after a traffic stop by Officer Caleb Sherman early on Saturday in the Tulsa suburb. Walker says two people fled the vehicle during the initial stop and a man then drove away, leading before stopping, then shooting Sherman in the leg, after which Sherman returned fire.

Walker says the man was later found dead and police are searching for the other two people as witnesses. A suspected cause of death was not released.

Walker says Sherman was treated and released at a hospital.
