OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Authorities say an off-duty Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper shot and killed a man suspected of trying to rob the trooper at his home.

The Oklahoman newspaper reports the confrontation happened Friday in Oklahoma City.

Police said the trooper was in his garage with the door open when a man pointed a gun at him and asked for his belongings.

Authorities say the trooper led the man to the home’s second floor where the trooper used his gun to shoot the man.

The man later died at a hospital.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the names of the trooper and the man who died.
