Richard Eugene Welborn, 93, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on Monday, March 31, 2025. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 4, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Leon Veazey officiating. Richard was born on Sunday, January 31, 1932, in Oklahoma City, OK, to LuVois and Emma (Richardson) Welborn. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1950, and attended Oklahoma A&M. He was a veteran of the US Army. In 1961, he began his electrical apprenticeship and became a Master Electrician that July. He became a 32 degree mason in 1966, and a Shriner in 1968.
Richard served with area Ponca Camp Fire Girls, and was a 60 year member of the Western Oklahoma National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). He also served as City Commissioner from 1982-1985. He owned and operated Welborn Electric from 1959 to present.
Richard is survived by: his wife, Joan, of the home; children, Roxanne Waddell and her husband, Rick, of Frisco, TX, Krista Rogers of Houston, TX, Mark Welborn and wife Stephanie of Ponca City, OK; step-daughter, Mindy Benedict and husband Kevin of St. Augustine, FL; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his first wife, Norma Sue Welborn; parents, LuVois and Emma Welborn; son-in-law, Tom Rogers; step-son, Greg Slovacek; and brother, Gary Welborn.
