Wilma Jean Hankla
(February 18, 1929 – January 24, 2016)
Wilma Jean Grimm Hankla, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away at 7:10 am January 24, 2016 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 86.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 29, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Chaplain Tom Howard officiating. Casket bearers will be Chance Hankla, Sr., Chance Hankla, Jr., Shawn Hankla, and Brian Hankla. Honorary casket bearers will be Monty Hankla, Johnathan Holloway, Derek Duncan, and Mindi Chaney. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Wilma was born to Oscar Henry Grimm and Bertha Saraellen Christenson Grimm on February 18,1929 in Pawnee, OK. She attended to Pawnee schools. When she was in the eighth grade, she dropped out of school to take care of her younger siblings after her mother threw her spine out of place. Wilma was an incredible mother to her siblings. They knew they had to mind. She moved to Burbank with her parents and later to Ponca City. Wilma took care of several people. They loved her dearly. She was a caregiver at heart.
She is survived by her son Monty Hankla of Ponca City, sister, Patsy Lyons and husband Jim Lyons of Ponca City, grandchildren, Chance Hankla, Shawn Hankla, Brian Hankla, and Jessica Hankla-Holloway, several great grand kids and one great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Melvin, Virgil and Charles Grimm and longtime boyfriend Shelby Epperson.
