Wilma was born on September 23, 1926 in Belton, TX, to Estel M. and Gladys A. (Baker) Clancy. She grew up accustomed to her family moving to different towns as the job locations changed. Wilma’s father was a steamfitter, and traveled to different locations to work on construction projects until his part of the project was done. Then the family would move to wherever the next construction project would take them. Wilma commented that they normally would start a school year at a particular school, and finish at another school by the end of the school year. Wilma used the frequent moves to her advantage by getting her own special hands on experience of United States geography.
Wilma graduated High School at Duncan, OK. She worked as a telephone operator at Fairview, OK until the time of her marriage to Clinton Evans on January 30, 1949. After they were married at Cleo Springs, OK, they left in an Oklahoma snow storm for a honeymoon in Miami, FL. Later she and Clinton moved to Towner, Colorado where Wilma worked at a variety store, helped with the farm, and worked for the U.S. Post Office. She was involved with her church, and enjoyed the fellowship with her many friends. Wilma was passionate about her faith in Jesus. She loved to talk about the Lord, and she loved people.
Survivors include her husband Clinton of the home, sister, Joyce Burright, Tuttle, OK, brother-in-law, Doug Hawke, Grand Junction, CO and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jim and Gladys Clancy, sisters; Verna Hawke and Naomi Clough, and brother, Trace Clancy
