Wanda Prado
(November 22, 1931 – February 27, 2016)
Wanda Marie Prado, 84, longtime Ponca City resident, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was born on November 22, 1931 in Ponca City to Ray and Marie Hedrick. She grew up and was educated in Ponca City.
Wanda met and later married her true love, Albert Prado. They were married on December 8, 1948. Albert worked as a pipe fitter and the couple and their daughter, Alicia, traveled throughout Kansas. A decision was made to establish a home and family business in Ponca City. The Prados owned and operated the Sooner Fence Company. The couple had two more children, Mike and Mark. Albert passed away in 1993. Wanda continued to manage a mobile home and RV park on McCord Road in the Osage.
Wanda had many interests and friends. She attended the Faith Tabernacle Church and assisted with the ladies ministry. She loved spending time with her family. Flower gardening, reading, singing, fishing, and attending family sporting events were some of her favorite activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Marie Hedrick, husband Albert Prado, and infant granddaughter, Emily Prado.
She is survived by her three children, Alicia Higginbotham and husband Rick of Graham, TX, Mike Prado of Lewisville, TX, and Mark Prado of Ponca City, sister, Jody Burries of Burbank, OK., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will greet visitors and friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Trout Funeral Home located at 505 W. Grand Ave. in Ponca City. The funeral home will be open until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at Faith Tabernacle Church, located at 501 S. 5th St. in Ponca City, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016. A burial will follow at Longwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Justin Prado, Jared Prado, Tyler Prado, Shawn Keating, Jared Sindelar, and Darrell Jannish.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rick Higginbotham, Jeff Waits, Ken Edwards, and James DeHart.
