Wanda Lucille (Franklin) Headrick

April 12, 1939 ~ March 19, 2021 (age 81)

Wanda Lucille Headrick of Ponca City passed away on March 19, 2021. She was 81. Wanda was born on April 12, 1939 in Claremore, the daughter of Lee and Lucille (Dennis) Franklin. She graduated from Claremore High School in 1957 in the top 10% of her class. She married Herman Headrick on February 14, 1969 in Claremore at Sageeyah Baptist Church.

She started her career with the Claremore Progress Newspaper before moving to a position with the Department of Human Services, where she was employed as a clerical supervisor until 1969. She married and moved to Ponca City in 1969. Wanda worked as a transcription supervisor at Ponca City Hospital for 28 years before retiring in 1998.

Wanda was an active member at Sunset Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was past president of Pioneer Woman Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was a member of the Green Country Chapter of American Association of Medical Transcriptionists where she served in various positions. She was newsletter editor and won first place in a national competition. Wanda was also a past volunteer at McCord Senior Center. She was an active member of TOPS Chapter OK0308, Ponca City. Wanda loved going to events with her TOPS friends and was named 2013 TOPS Queen for the State of Oklahoma.

Wanda is survived by her son Kevin and wife Sheri of Frisco, TX, stepson Lee Headrick and wife Cindy of Ponca City, stepdaughter Michele Weishiemer and husband Ernst of Ponca City, her brother David Franklin of Claremore, sister-in-Law Nina Wilkins of Copan, grandchildren Connor, Avery, and David Headrick, Lorrie Buettner and Kimberlee Griffith, seven great grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, parents Lee and Lucille, her cherished mother-in-law Nelle Headrick; brothers Bill Franklin, Don Franklin and wife Sue; stepson Michael Headrick, grandson Dennis Jerome Wood and countless friends.

There will be a time to pay respects from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held in Wanda’s honor at 10am on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Sunset Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sunset Baptist Church or Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
