Obituary for Velma Falconer

Velma Isabelle Bozworth Falconer passed away on August 14, 2014. She was 90 years old. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, OK.

Velma was born April 2, 1924, on a farm near Drummond, OK, to Homer and Cora Adaline (Bolt) Bozworth. She was the seventh child of ten. In 1929 the family moved to the Lamont, OK area. She attended Dayton and Home Valley Schools and later lived west of Three Sands.

On September 15, 1945, in Winfield, KS she married Raymond Arthur Falconer. They had one child Kenneth Dean that made their family complete. They made their home in Ponca City all but two years. They also lived in Tacoma, WA. Velma worked at the 9th St Laundry and Courtesy Laundry twenty-three years. In 1980 they opened the Glass Negative in The Compound Mall, later moved to 101 West Grand and were in business for 23 years.

Velma was involved in the 101 Ranch Restoration Foundation, 101 Ranch Old Timers, 101 Ranch Collectors, and Charter Member of the Standing Bear Memorial Park.

She loved buying and making clothes for children. Velma loved to make quilts, crochet, embroider, cook for older people, feed birds, and garden- growing both vegetables and flowers. Velma enjoyed keeping in touch with her nieces and nephews throughout the years. She especially loved being with her son and his wife, grandkids, great grandkids and great great grand kids. She just loved being with people.

Velma is survived by her son Kenneth Dean, adopted son Joe Glaser, grandchildren, Mike and Julie Mauntel, Chuck and Bonnie Bacher. Her great grandchildren, Tiffie and Frank Hernandez, Bret Bacher, and Colton Mason. Great great grandchildren, Ethan Berg and Naomi Berg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

Velma is preceded by her husband, Ray, January 18, 2007; her parents; six sisters, Iva Warren, Eva Kay, Dora Bozworth, Opal Neal, Nadine Bozworth, Nora Jean Taylor; three Brothers, Lloyd, Johnny, and Waldo; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Crickett Falconer.
