Thomas Price
August 17, 1960 – June 29, 2019
Thomas “Tom” Eugene Price, resident of Flower Mound, Texas passed away on June 30, 2019 at the age of 58. Tom was counting down and preparing for retirement to his acreage and home in Wister, Oklahoma. Tom loved his dogs, Moses, Big Boy, Brucey and his three cats, Little Mama, Princey, and Cocoa dearly. Tom also had a passion for music, motorcycles and jet skiing, but most of all, he loved hanging out with his numerous friends who were like family.
Tom grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. Early in life, Tom was drawn to cars, trucks or any machinery. He started by working on his own “wheels”, then everyone wanted his help with theirs.
Tom was an accomplished professional. He was hired by the Town of Addison in 1999 as a Fleet Technician joining a team of highly credentialed professionals. Prior to Addison, Tom had worked for the City of Carrollton and the Town of Flower Mound. In 2001, Tom was hired by the City of Coppell to join a newly formed and refreshed Fleet Services Team. During his early years in Coppell, Tom pursued advanced automotive training and certifications and he earned Master Auto and Master HD Truck Technician status with ASE. Tom possesses in excess of 45 automotive service certifications from basic to advanced level through ASE, as well as a degree in Diesel Automotive Service. An Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) position was created within the Coppell Fleet Services Division and Tom was promoted to that position. Tom soon became the first individual in the United States to acquire all EVT certifications credentialed by the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission (EVTCC) in all categories including Fire Apparatus, Ambulance, Law Enforcement, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting, and Management. Tom has been recognized by the City of Coppell for his continued professional development. Tom earned his Texas Emergency Medical Technician license, and his dedication to the support of the Public Safety fleet was unfailing. Tom was also presented with the Civilian of the Year Award by the Coppell Fire Department. Using his knowledge and background, Tom was a mentor to fellow technicians allowing them to become fully credentialed Master EVT’s, both internally and externally to the City of Coppell. The Texas Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians awarded Tom the EVT of the Year award, and in March of 2019 in recognition of his positive impact on others Tom was presented with the Jim Bland Memorial Award for Vision, Professionalism and Achievement, the Southwest EVT Conference’s highest award.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hamel Price and Katherine Louise Price, and brother, Charles E Price.
A graveside ceremony for Tom will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in honor of Tom may be made to the ASPCA and Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, Texas 75006.
