Terry Lin Burns

June 28, 1947 – November 15, 2018

Terry Lin Burns, resident of Ponca City, OK passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 in Ozona, Texas at the age of 71. Terry was born on June 28, 1947 in Blackwell, OK to Frank and Bonnie Burns. He grew up in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and graduated from Tonkawa Public Schools. After his education, he studied the art of “life” specializing in billiards, booze, and love. While enjoying his “studies” he met the love of his life, Jeannie Myers. They were married on October 25, 1975. Terry always showed her how much he loved her by giving her a rose for every year they were married on their anniversary. This October they celebrated 43 years of marriage symbolized by 43 individual roses.

Terry owned and managed several restaurants including the VFW, Terry’s Sandwich Shop and Pauline’s Steakhouse. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 12 years. Terry retired from Conoco after 33 years of service. He was currently working as a pipeline inspector through Plains All-American Pipeline.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Burns; his mother, Bonnie Burns; his brothers, Tim Burns and Sonny Burns.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jeannie Burns of Ponca City; his daughter, Shannon Ward and her husband Mike of Tonkawa; his daughter, Terra Burns of Ponca City; his son, Bruce Burns and his wife Laci of Victoria, TX; his brother, Danny Burns and wife Charlene of Tonkawa; his brother, Jeff Burns and his wife Erin of Blackwell; his sister, Toni Sneed and her husband Ron of Florida; his mother-in-law, Betty Myers of Ponca City; sister-in-law, Shelly Shears and her husband Jack of Ponca City; his sister-in-law, Melissa Birkett and her husband Fred of Peculiar, MO; and brother-in-law, Harry Myers of Ponca City. He is also survived by his pride and joy – his grandchildren, Caleb Burns, Cole Burns, Brett Ward, Devin Burns, Aubrey Burns, Katelyn Burns, Madyson Burns, and Macey Burns, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and hundreds of friends who will cherish memories of Terry for eternity.

Terry was a loving and selfless husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like cruising around with the window down in his old El Camino, drinking an ice cold Coors Light, running the pool table, cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time with life-long friends and family. Per the usual, we are all still here and awake while Terry has snuck off to rest earlier than the rest of us.

A funeral ceremony for Terry will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Faith Tabernacle Church in Ponca City, OK. Friends and family are welcome to come by the funeral home to pay their last respects to Terry on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Following cremation, Terry will be laid to rest on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
