Obituary for Sue Hoppes

Sue Margaret Hoppes, age 96, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away, March 28, 2015, in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, April 1, 2015, at Northeast Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Nigh officiating. Burial will then follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Sue was born on January 14, 1919, to Fred John Simon and Gertrude Viola Dietrich Simon in Bristow, OK. Upon completing her education, she married Ernest Daniels, and they established a small farm in Arkansas. Later they moved to Tulsa, OK, where they lived and worked until his death after 20 years of marriage. Sue moved to Pomona, California, where she met George Hoppes, and they were married for almost 51 years until his death in 2013. Sue loved her long career as a nurse working mostly with newborns. Sue enjoyed painting, was very accomplished in knitting and crocheting, and was an avid gardener. Sue was a very devout Christian, and was very active at her church in Pomona and at Northeast Baptist Church. She also enjoyed serving with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Hillhouse of Ponca City, sister-in-law, Lucille Symon of Rock Hill, SC, nieces: Karen Capeheart of Ponca City, Luella Sanders of Wichita, KS, Joy Simon of Oklahoma City, and Louise Kerr of Rock Hill, SC, as well as dear friend, Irma Lossau of Grant Pass, OR, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Julia Simon, Gertrude Dale, Esther Hankins, Fred Symon, Edward Simon, Roland Simon, Grace Simon, and husbands, Ernest Daniels, and George Hoppes, her parents, and several nieces and nephews.
