Obituary for Shelby Stevens

Shelby Joe Stevens, resident of Kaw City, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was 76.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Trout Funeral Home with Chaplain Tom Howard, officiating. There will be no public viewing. Cremation is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
On May 23, 1939 he was born to Shelby Stevens and Pauline (Sharp) Stevens in Kaw City, Oklahoma where he was raised. Joe was married to Sandra Hilton on October 31, 1959 in Tulsa, OK. They lived in Tulsa for 18 years before relocating to Kaw City, OK. He worked in the maintenance department for the Ponca City Medical Center before retiring.
Joe loved classic cars and he owned a ’51 Chevy. Joe and Sandy spent many hours along the river hunting for arrowheads. He enjoyed swap meets, flea markets and antique shops. For many years he enjoyed putting together model cars and puzzles.
He is survived by daughters, Shelley Smith and her husband David of Ponca City, OK; Kelli Yerby and her husband Jeff of Rudy, AR; Sons, Scott Stevens and wife Tammy of Kaw City, OK and Kyle Stevens of Kaw City, OK. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Harkins of Kaw City, OK. Eleven grandchildren, Anthony West, Dawn Forsyth, Brice Smith, Ashley Sharp, Blake Smith, Casey Smith, Taylor Stevens, Kainen Armstrong, Sklyer Stevens, Ethan Stevens, and Alexander Stevens. Also surviving him is 12 great grandchildren and twins on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one granddaughter, Jessica Debo and one sister, Donita Jones
Honorary casketbearers will be Anthony West, Brice Smith, Blake Smith, Casey Smith, and Kainen Armstrong.
