Obituary for Sara Weckner

Sara Blossom Weckner of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the Integris Bass Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years.
Sara Blossom Weckner was born on October 4, 1936, in Pratt, Kansas, to Devon Alton and Sarah Elizabeth (Moore) Patterson. She grew up in Pratt and attended Pratt Public Schools. Following her education she married John William Pence on May 29, 1951, in Pratt where she served her family as a homemaker. Following his retirement in 1988 they moved to Branson, Missouri, before moving to Kingman, Kansas, in 2001 to make their home. Her husband preceded her in death in 2001 and on June 3, 2002, she married Leslie Gene Weckner in Wichita, Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Les Weckner of Blackwell; a son, Buddy Pence of Pratt, Kansas; six daughters, Marilynn Ebert of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Cleaver of Pratt, Kansas, Kathy Ridge of Wichita, Kansas, Debbie Swedberg of Kingman, Kansas, Jeanie Burnam of Wichita, Kansas, and Tammie Marsh of Belle Fourche, South Dakota; six brothers, Don Patterson and Alton Patterson of Penalosa, Kansas, Jake Patterson of Enid, Oklahoma, Eddie Patterson of Hutchinson, Kansas, Bruce Patterson of Kingman, Kansas, and Henry Patterson of Marysville, California; two sisters, AlMarie Pruitt of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Pam Garcia of Albuquerque, New Mexico; twenty three grandchildren; fifty two great grandchildren; and eleven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Pence Jr.; three brothers, Bob, Pat and Sonny Patterson; two sisters, Margaret Patterson and Mary Simple; and two grandsons, Charlie Banta and Jody Rennaker.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19th in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma, with Rev. Donnie Hazlewood of Longwood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
The grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren will serve as honorary casketbearers.
