Sandra Lee Nelson, formerly of Blackwell, died March 7, 2023, at her home in Lindsay, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years.
Sandra Lee Nelson was born on April 22, 1949, in Palo Alto, California, to Robert L. and Donna L. (Bourne) Moore. As a young girl the family move to Enid before settling in Blackwell. She attended Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1967. She furthered her education by attending Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She married Jim Nelson in 1967 in Ponca City and the couple settled in Blackwell. She later worked at Braum’s before attending nursing school for a while. She later worked at Wal-Mart before becoming a seamstress for Southwest Cupid in Blackwell where she retired in 2010. Following retirement, she served as a foster parent until 2015 as which time she moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma to be near her family. She attended the Wesleyan Church and Christ’s Church in Blackwell and Living Sanctuary in Lindsay where she showed Jesus’ love to everyone. She enjoyed sewing, camping and fishing, gardening and cooking. Her favorite passion was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Belair and husband Randy of Vichy, Missouri, Kristina Nelson of Lindsay, Cynthia Alkawaldeh and husband Omar of Wood River, Illinois, and Karri Malicoat and husband Scott of Lindsay; a brother, Lannie Moore of Oklahoma City; thirteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robbie Nelson; and three brothers, Gary, Lyndell and Phillip Moore.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 13th in the Braman Cemetery with Chaplain Justin Evans of Traditions Hospice officiating.
Honorary casketbearers will be her grandsons, Trevor Nelson, Tyler Shear, Jimy Nelson, Brayden Malicoat, Brent Belair and Tanner Shear.
