Obituary for Sally Ellis

Sally Burrows Ellis passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at her home in Ponca City after her brave battle with cancer. She was 68.
Sally was born in Tulsa on March 14, 1946, the daughter of David and Ruth Burrows. She attended and graduated from Ponca City High School with the class of 1964 and later attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a degree in English in 1968. While at OSU she was a proud member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was employed as a legal secretary in Los Angeles, Calif. and later retired from Ponca City Publishing Company where she was a reporter. She married Tom Hodges and later married Mike Ellis. Sally enjoyed and was very good at cooking, gardening, reading and was an avid OSU fan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Ellis, of Ponca City; her mother, Ruth, of Ponca City; her son, David Hodges and wife Shannon, of Temecula, Calif.; her daughter, Heather Roberts and husband Colin, of Plano, Texas; two step-sons, John Ellis and wife Holly, of Katy, Texas and Matthew Ellis, of Edmond; her brother, David Burrows, of Kingwood, Texas; and sister, Susan Peeples and husband Gerald, of Bowling Green, Ky. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be at their home at 107 Glenside, Ponca City.
