Rose Marie (Edmisten) Ratliff
September 24, 1943 ~ November 15, 2022 (age 79)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Ratliff on November 15th 2022 at the age of 79. Surrounded by family, she passed early morning during a light snowfall, and leaves her family and friends to mourn.
Born in Cleveland, OK, Marie spent her early years working in a little café in her home town of Hominy. Eventually she aided the Ponca City Hospital as a cleaner. Tender hearted, Marie’s true passion was child care. With an open heart she tended to children in her home, Miss Nan’s, and Country Day School. Her favorite pass times were staying up late and putting up a fierce fight in card games like Skip-Bo or Uno with her grandkids. She always played to win. One could always find her holding her own, determined to win, with a hand full of cards while snacking on M&M’s and Pepsi.
Marie or “Nanny” as her friends and family knew her, was loved and cherished by many. She embodied the title of “Nanny” as she cared for all of her family’s children any time she could, and provided them with all she had to give. She is a loved mother, wife, grandmother, Great Grandmother, friend, confidant, and matriarch. Marie was notorious within her family for her holiday gatherings, and her famous homemade noodles. She dedicated her life to making sure her family was together, fed, clothed, and happy. She loved to feel “Needed”.
Rose Marie Ratliff is preceded in death by her parents Ester Rachel Stokes, William Edmisten and Step-Dad Edwin Crawford, as well as her daughter Donna Rae Ratliff.
Marie is survived by her husband Ray Henry Ratliff; her children Billy, Cathy, Teresa, Raymond, and sister Deloris Willenberg. She also has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of which she treasured until the end.
A graveside funeral service will be held in memoriam of Marie on November 18th, 2022 at 2:00pm at Burbank, OK Cemetery.
