Obituary for Robert Williamson

Robert (Bob) Jerald Williamson, 71, of Blackwell, OK died peacefully July 16, 2015 with his family at his side after a short illness with lung cancer.
He was born October 23, 1943 to Bob and Arletta Williamson. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School (BHS) in 1961. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country until October 21, 1964.
Bob married Diatra Layton on September 5, 1965. They lived in Tulsa where he attended the University of Tulsa. He graduated in January 1969 with a BS in Petroleum Marketing.
Bob and Diatra returned to Blackwell where he owned and operated the family business, Bob’s Grill. Throughout the next 35 years, he perfected the art of homemade bread and pies. He was known to many to be one of the most hospitable and giving hearts when it came to his baked goods.
Bob’s hobbies included playing cards, golf, traveling to Las Vegas, and Saturday date night with his beautiful wife of 48 years.
Bob is survived by his 3 children Dacia (Billy) Rider, Acacia (Shane) Brueggen, Drew (Constance) Williamson and 7 beautiful grandchildren. (Chisteny & Bryor Snead, Brayton & Sabra Brueggen, and Lily, Layton, & Lake Williamson) He was preceded in death by his wife Diatra and his mother Arletta, as well as many devoted friends.
Bob will be missed by many but those he has left behind find comfort in knowing that he has now found peace next to his wife in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Services will be Wednesday, July 22 at 1:30 PM at the First Christian Church of Blackwell, OK with Pastor Sandy Harris of First Christian Church of Louisburg, KS officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin with military honors.
Casketbearers will be Billy Dover, Ryan Fedderson, Brindan Shepherd, Brandon Ward, Justin Shepherd and Drew Williamson. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Chuck Sprague, Gary Schuerman, Jim Rogers, Bo Riseling, Aubry Kelle, Richard Tiu, and Mike Jeffers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the artistic creation of a mural in his honor to be displayed on the side of Bob’s Grill in care of Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
