Dr. Robert Fuller Morgan of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Monday morning, July 23, 2018, in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 91 years.
Dr. Robert Fuller Morgan was born on July 3, 1927, in Red Oak, Oklahoma, to Ray Payne and Ethel Mabel (Stephens) Morgan. As a young boy he moved with his family to McAlester, Oklahoma, before moving to Seminole, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school in 1945. He entered the United States Navy on July 7, 1945, during World War II, serving in a hospital unit. Upon his honorably discharged in October of 1946 he attended the University of Oklahoma receiving a bachelors degree in pre-med. Following graduation he entered medical school completing the program in three years. While in medical school he married Ann Walthour on December 27, 1950. Upon becoming a licensed medical doctor, the family moved to Blackwell in 1955 and he served the community until March 24, 2011, when he retired. During that time he was instrumental in helping Blackwell maintain a hospital. He later married Jean Buesing on April 17, 2004, in Blackwell. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and later the First Christian Church in Blackwell. He also held memberships in the Elk’s Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed everything O.U., watching baseball games and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Morgan of Blackwell; a son, Bob Morgan Jr. and wife Shelley of Edmond; two daughters, Robin Barby and husband Rodney of Beaver, and Jean Ann Wagner and husband Burt of Nowot, Colorado; three step-sons, David Buesing and wife Jill of Blackwell, Rick Buesing and wife Charlotte of Kingston, and Mike Buesing and wife Kim of Yukon; a twin brother, Richard Morgan and wife Jackie of Frisco, Texas; five grandchildren, Bob Morgan III of Oklahoma City, Stacey Morgan of Blackwell, Ava Barby of Beaver, Zie Wagner of Niwot, Colorado, and Beau Tidwell of Tulsa; nine step-grandchildren, Julie Buesing of Skiatook, Nicki Greenfield of Blackwell, Jen Rosser of Noble, Derick Buesing of Moore, Drew Buesing of Duncan, Megan Childers of Blackwell, Barret Buesing of Wichita, Kansas, Corey Buesing of Oklahoma City, and Spencer Buesing of Edmond; and eighteen great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Morgan; and a granddaughter, Eve Kugel.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 26th in the First Christian Church in Blackwell with Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Assisting will be Dr. Larry Godley and Craig Morgan. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Preston Morgan, Mike Buesing, David Buesing, Casey Childers, Fred Williamson and T. J. Greenfield. Honorary casketbearers will be Dr. Larry Godley, Craig Morgan and the Harmony Sunday School Class.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the First Christian Church Youth Group in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
