Robert Clarence Lewellyn, Jr.

September 30, 1932 – April 7, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Clarence Lewellyn Jr. share his passing on April 7, 2023. Robert, or Bud as most knew him, was born on September 30, 1932, in Conway, Arkansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Oklahoma Glover Lewellyn and Robert Clarence Lewellyn Sr.

Bud graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1951. He continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College and then at the University of Oklahoma where he graduated in 1956 with a degree in Petroleum Geology.

Bud married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy “LoKiel” Harney on March 21, 1953. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

After college Bud worked at Halliburton Oil in Oklahoma City. After a brief residence in Oberlin, Kansas the family moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1962. After settling in Wichita, Bud began his own business as an Independent Geologist until he retired in 2013. Bud was a lifetime member of the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association and the Kansas Geological Society.

Besides his love for spending time with family, Bud was an avid OU Sooners fan and a collector of rocks, hats, stamps, and pens. Bud and LoKiel also spent many years raising horses on the family farm. Bud loved his children and their families and took great pride in them. He felt his family was his greatest accomplishment.
