Dr. Robert Paul Carter II, 82, of Georgetown, Texas, departed this life on Friday, October 7, 2022.
Robert (Bob) was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on May 2, 1940 and was raised in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. He was the son of Robert Paul Carter Sr, and Caroline Josephine Muegge. Bob attended Tonkawa High School, Northern Oklahoma College, Oklahoma City College and completed Oklahoma University Medical School in 1963. He served with the Navy in Vietnam. His career in academic medicine took him to Tucson Medical Center, the University of Kansas, The University of North Dakota, Texas Tech University and Michigan State University. He retired as the Dean of Michigan State University Medical School in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Robert leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Gloria Dolores Andrews Carter and two brothers, Dr. Thomas Carter of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Dr. John Carter of Frankston, Texas. He is survived by four children; Cindy Sutorka of The Villages, Florida, Kimberly Jagen of Oveido, Florida, Kevin Carter of San Antonio, Texas and Sean Carter of Austin, Texas and 5 grandchildren; Joshua Sutorka, Tyler Sutorka, Calvin Jagen, Anlie Jagen and Mabel Jagen, along with one great-grandson; Cameron Sutorka.
Bob had a great sense of humor and was known for his quick witted one liners along with his infectious laugh. He had numerous hobbies over the years that included sailing, photography, dog training and golf.
